The “New York Festivals” awarded our film with the “Silver World Medal – Environment & Ecology”.
About a third of what we eat is pollinated by bees – more precisely, of more or less of a bee: the western honeybee. This species has been a loyal companion in the production of our harvest for centuries – but it seems that we have overloaded this small insect with the demands of our agricultural production. In the US and around the world, the bee colonies have suffered dramatic losses over the last decades – with serious consequences for our harvesting potential.
This film is a journey into the unknown, surprising and fascinating world of wild bees to understand them and solve our attachment to honey bees, as the best opportunity to secure our food production for the future.
