Synopsis
“Truth & Lies” is an international co-production of the channel ZDFinfo with the Canadian channel TVO. In the six-part series we observe the ambivalent relationship between lies and truth throughout history. From antiquity to the present we focus on the topics of money, religion, war, conspiracy theories, opinion makers and scandals. How were people manipulated by lies? What was the purpose of it? What goals were achieved with propaganda, fake news and rumors? From ancient Egypt to the modern age, we see how truth was veiled and distorted – but also, how it sometimes triumphed over lies.
