Jesse Owens – The fastest man on earth

Synopsis

The documentary investigates Jesse’s early career, overcoming racial prejudice in his own country to become a member of his nation’s olympic team and the unbelievable treatment he received from his own management and president upon his victorious return from Berlin.

It features interviews with the last eye-witnesses of the Nazi-Olympics and Jesse’s doctor, still fit and healthy at the age of 104. Together with historians they disclose an unexpected truth about the black man who allegedly snubbed Hitler and befriended an Aryan athlete right before his eyes.

Firelight Media was founded in 1998 as an independent non-profit production company and has been best known for producing high-quality productions for PBS and for developing talented documentary filmmakers. Our german partner WDR is planning to broadcast the film on the occasion of Olympia 2012.
