Synopsis
These films illuminate the background of the Cold War on the basis of the latest documents available. They show how both blocs of countries, under the leadership of their respective superpowers, competed on various battlefields and in very diverse areas of life, and they examine the consequences that persist to this day. Each individual episode tells its own exciting story – by investigating an iconic event that raises a pernicious question still affecting the world today that can only be answered by reexamining the history of the Cold War. The six episodes rely on statements by a variety of protagonists – culprits and victims, witnesses and experts – from both sides.
